What Is Squidoo? Do You Know How To Squidoo?

Squidoo is a place where anyone can be an expert in something. What is Squidoo, you ask? It is a place where people can create websites about their interests on unique pages that others can browse if they are interested in the subject. Users can browse many different categories to find something they are interested in, and each page can produce royalties that the user can keep or have the option of donating to the charity of their choice.

The foundation of Squidoo are the individual user-created pages called Lenses, named so for the topic being the focus of the user. Each Lens highlights a particular subject that a Lensmaster, a term for the creator of the Lens, to display. Some are step-by-step guides, such as building crafts or performing a task. There are also recipes, instructional lists, and how-to’s in any category you could possibly think of. There are Squidoos in the topics of Business, Travel, Green Living, Parenting, and many more! There is no limit to how many Lenses a user may create, so you don’t even have to choose. You can make a Squidoo for anything!

Lensmasters can employ a tool called SquidU to help construct Lenses. This is designed to help achieve goals that the Lensmaster has, such as reaching more readers or finding ways to earn more royalties. It helps users get the most use out of the tools available to them such as modules (see below).

Squidoo uses Google AdSense to generate money advertising on the Lenses. The ads are centered close to the subject matter of the Lens, and if readers click on ads in a Lens, the Lensmaster makes a royalty on it. Squidoo gives the Lensmaster a full half of the revenue generated by the Lens, gives 5% to charity, and keeps the rest. There is no limit to the amount of Lenses a user creates, and therefore, no limit to earning potential.

Squidoo works with a number of charities in an effort to give back to the community, both through donation of profits as well as encouraging organizations to construct Lenses of their own to both attract revenue and as a platform to raise awareness for the cause of the charity. Squidoo also gives Lensmasters the option to donate their royalties to charity.

Another feature of Lenses available to users are Modules. Modules allow users to generate extra revenue from a Lens. For example, a Lens focusing on a good backhand for tennis could include links to affiliates with Squidoo on places where visitors can shop for tennis equipment. When consumers make purchases like these through links from a Lens on Squidoo, the Lensmaster gets a cut.

Squidoo is a company formed from the mindset of doing well by the world. The idea was to create a company that could stand alone on the profits it made and shared with its contributors and charities. The company strives for a clean atmosphere in which content is moderated and success encouraged.

Squidoo says everyone can be an expert! There is no limit to the amount of Lenses you can publish, and no limit to the topics you can enjoy. Whether a hobby enthusiast, a professional, or an amateur pursuer, Squidoo offers a platform for everyone to share their knowledge in something with everyone. Start with a look around, and look for something you know. If it is not there, there is a place for you to start!
