Selling Sweet Treats

Owning a frozen desserts business can be fun as you can sell a variety of items aside from ice cream or frozen yogurt. You can offer cakes, pies and cookies along with other sweet treats that taste best cold instead of hot.

When you order from frozen desserts suppliers, you want to make sure you have enough of each kind so that you don’t run out. In order to make any kind of profit with this kind of business since it is one that caters to those who are looking for a specific kind of dessert, you need to have a marketing plan in place.

Get involved with the community. Draw attention to your store with colorful advertising and specials that are offered so that customers can find out what you have to sell. One of the things that you could do is to sponsor a sports team or set up a booth at a community event. You could also create an event that the community might be interested in, such as a crafts fair or a small business fair.

One way to get more people into your store is to offer discounts on the items that you have. Pay attention to the value of free. While some items can be offered for free, such as a scoop of ice cream or a small piece of cake, you want to make sure that you’re not offering too many items that customers don’t have to pay for because you still have to pay for the items that need replenished.

You could hold a drawing for a free item once a month or for holidays. Another option is to offer a discount card that gives the customer a free scoop of ice cream or a free slice of cake once a certain amount has been purchased.

Coupons are also a way to increase traffic to the business. Deliver coupons to places where people would be interested in getting frozen desserts, such as parks, malls, libraries that offer summer reading programs and schools. Gift certificates are another option so that you make money while customers give the gift of a frozen dessert.
