Facebook is arguably the most popular social networking platform on the planet currently. People rely on its Messenger service for communicating with their friends and family all over the world. In fact, it is considered to be the top competitor for WhatsApp, at least it was until Facebook purchased WhatsApp. The Messenger is capable of performing a horde of functions and there is a good chance that you don’t know all of them. Knowing them can actually enhance your use and make it more fun and enjoyable. The only requirement is to update it on a regular basis so you don’t miss out on improvements such as a better emoji keyboard, story feature etc.
If you want to get the most use out of your Facebook Messenger, here are some tricks and tips that can help you out:
Send Snapchat-Style Photographs
An update has been rolled out to Messenger by Facebook that allows you to create and send photos to your friends Snapchat-style. You can use the new feature by opening up a conversation, tapping the camera icon and then look for the doodle, text and smiley face icon at the top right. You can experiment all you want and take a photo by tapping the circular button at the bottom. Long-pressing will make a video.
Just like it did to WhatsApp and Instagram, which it owns, Facebook has added the stories feature to Messenger, which is something introduced first by Snapchat. They have named this introduction as Messenger Day that can be used for sharing photos with your friends, which are automatically deleted after 24 hours. However, the company has tried to be different than Snapchat and is offering more than 5,000 stickers, effects and frames, or so they say. You just have to tap the photo button to take a picture.
The traditional emoji keyboard has been revolutionized by Facebook to serve a different purpose. Users can now respond to incoming messages with ‘reactions’ in the same way they react to statuses on Facebook. A variety of emojis are offered on this new version of an emoji keyboard such as a laughing face, a thumbs up or an angry face amongst others. They come in handy when you want to react to an incoming message quickly instead of typing out a complete response. You just have to press and hold onto the message and the keyboard will spring up automatically to let you choose. Apple offers this feature in iMessage.
Another emoji trick that Facebook has added to the emoji keyboard is the ability of sending balloons. If someone you know is celebrating their birthday or any other occasion, you can send them a message in which balloons fly up the screen. All you have to do is send the balloon emoji after opening the particular conversation or create a new message. The balloons will automatically be set free.
Use these tips and tricks and get better use out of your Facebook Messenger app.
