Let’s face it: working out is not fun. It is –– after all –– a different form of “work.” And though hitting the gym may not be as stressful or time-consuming as a nine-to-five job, it’s not something everyone looks forward to. Indeed, many people flat-out dread exercising and will find any excuse to avoid it. For proof of this, all you need to know is that the majority of American adults are either overweight or obese. The question then becomes: how can individuals reverse these trends and learn to love working out? Join a Rec League

Sports are a great way to stay in shape while having a blast at the same time. Plus, it’s usually easy to join a team at your local YMCA or fitness center. Don’t feel intimidated if you haven’t played in a while either; there are plenty of non-competitive teams and leagues you can join that will allow you to exercise with friends in a low-key environment. Hit the Pool

Swimming may be the best single exercise for your overall well-being. It’s also a diversion that’s hugely enjoyable. Not only is the local pool a tremendous place for busy pros to unwind, but stressed-out parents can bring their kids along as well! What’s more, plenty of facilities offer swimming lessons if you’re in need of a refresher or are just looking for a few pointers to improve your form.

Dance! 

Everybody loves to dance –– but relatively few people choose to incorporate it into their workout routine. This is a mistakes because dancing is an engaging, delightful fitness activity that will improve your well-being and boost your mood. In addition, note that simply listening to music during your workout will likely increase your willingness to “go the extra mile.” Never underestimate the effect good music can have on the psyche.

Kill Two Birds with One Stone 

Creative individuals can find ways to combine exercise with their other favorite pastimes.
